FujiMuse Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 16, 2026
Introduction
FujiMuse ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the FujiMuse mobile apps, visit the FujiMuse website at fujimuse.app, or join the beta waitlist.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: You can create an account with your email address and password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Google. If you use Apple or Google, the provider handles the sign-in under its own privacy policy and we never receive your Apple or Google password. We receive your email address (with Apple this may be a private relay address that forwards to you), an account identifier from the provider, and basic profile details the provider shares, such as your name, which we use to suggest a username.
- Profile Information: Username, display name, profile picture, bio, website, and camera model, if you choose to add them
- User Content: Photos you post, captions, an optional location you type on a post, comments, likes, follows, and recipes you share
- Recipes and Collections: Recipes you save and collections you build. If you turn on cloud recipe backup and sync, these are stored on our servers so they can sync between your devices.
- AI Chat Content: Messages you choose to send through the AI chat feature
- Photos for AI Preview: A photo you choose when you request an AI-enhanced recipe preview
- Reports: Content or users you report, and the reason you give
- Terms Acceptance: A record of when you accepted the Terms of Service
- Purchase Records: Google Play purchase tokens (and, for the iOS app, Apple App Store transaction identifiers) used to verify paid feature access. We do not receive your payment card details.
- Beta Waitlist: Email address, whether and when you confirmed it through the link we email you, consent date and version, language/locale, referring page, landing-page variant, and campaign attribution parameters when you join the beta waitlist on our website. You can also join on the website by tapping Continue with Google; we then receive the email address on your Google account from Google, which confirms it, so no confirmation email is sent. The waitlist does not require a FujiMuse account.
- Support Messages: Anything you send us by email
- Problem Reports: If you choose Settings, then Report a problem (or shake your phone) and tap Send, we receive what you typed and the category you picked; an optional screenshot of the screen you were on, which you can remove before sending; your app version and build, Android version, phone maker and model, and language; the connected camera's model, firmware version, and technical details (USB ID, supported settings, and recent camera commands and replies, but not the camera's serial number); a recent app log with personal data removed on your phone before sending (emails, tokens, account IDs, IP addresses, serial numbers, and file paths); and whether crash reporting is on, with your pseudonymous crash ID so we can match the report to a crash. Nothing is sent until you tap Send. If you are offline, the report is saved on your phone and sent when you are back online. If you are not signed in, you can email the report to us instead, and it is treated as a support message. Reports are stored in our database and a private storage bucket, linked to your account, and only we can read them.
Information Collected Automatically
- AI Usage Records: For each AI chat or AI preview request we record the time, the feature, the provider and model, and token or image counts so we can enforce daily limits. These records never contain your message text or photos.
- Analytics Data: Firebase Analytics is off by default. If you turn it on in the app, it collects usage events such as screens viewed and features used, device and operating system type, and the camera model you select, linked to a random app-instance identifier generated by Firebase, not to your FujiMuse account. The same in-app switch turns analytics and crash reporting on and off.
- Crash Reports: Firebase Crashlytics is off by default. If you turn it on, it collects crash logs and device state. Crash data does not include your messages, photos, or recipe details. Crash reports are grouped by a pseudonymous crash ID made from a salted one-way hash, never your account ID or email address.
- Server Logs: Our hosting providers record IP address, request time, and similar technical data when the app or website contacts our servers, for security and troubleshooting.
- Website Analytics: The FujiMuse website uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to collect aggregated page-view, referral, device, general location, and performance measurements, plus clicks on sign-up buttons. Vercel Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies, does not associate events with an individual or IP address, and discards its temporary visitor-session identifier after 24 hours. We do not send waitlist email addresses to Vercel Analytics.
- Waitlist Abuse Protection: To limit repeated sign-up attempts, the website stores a keyed one-way digest of your IP address for a short rate-limit window. We never store the raw IP address with the waitlist.
Processed Only on Your Device
- Recipe Text Recognition: When you import a recipe from a screenshot, text recognition (Google ML Kit) runs on your device. The image is not uploaded.
- On-Device Preview: The standard (LUT) recipe preview runs on your device and does not upload your photo.
- Camera Connection: Sending recipes to your camera happens over a USB cable between your phone and camera. We do not upload your camera's serial number.

AI Features and Data Processing
AI Chat
- AI chat is available on paid plans. Messages you send are routed through our server (a Supabase Edge Function) to a third-party AI provider, together with the camera and recipe context the app includes to make answers relevant.
- FujiMuse currently uses Google Gemini. Our server can also route requests to Anthropic Claude, and we will update this policy if our primary provider changes.
- You can only send text. Your photos are never sent to the AI chat service.
- AI chat messages are not stored by FujiMuse, on our servers or on your device. A conversation stays in the app only until you close it.
- How long the AI provider keeps a request, and whether it may be used for training, is governed by that provider's commercial API terms.
- AI-generated suggestions are creative guidance, not guaranteed camera or vendor facts, and should be verified before use.
AI-Enhanced Recipe Preview
- When you request an AI-enhanced preview (available on paid plans), the photo you choose is re-encoded without location or other photo metadata and sent through our server to Replicate, together with the recipe settings.
- Replicate runs an image model to generate the preview and returns a link to the result. FujiMuse does not store the uploaded photo or the generated preview on its servers. Replicate keeps them only as long as its data retention policy allows.
- If you then post a preview to FujiMuse, it becomes User Content and is stored like any other post.
Public Information
FujiMuse has social features. Your username, display name, profile picture, bio, website, camera model, posts (including photos, captions, and any location you typed), comments, likes, follows, and shared recipes can be seen by other users. Your profile picture is stored at a link that anyone with the link can open; post photos can be viewed only while the post is visible. Your email address is never shown to other users. Photos are re-encoded before upload, which removes GPS and other photo metadata. Some recipes in the app are credited to outside creators, such as Fuji X Weekly. For those we show the creator's public name and blog name and a link to the original post, as published on their blog.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With Service Providers: Account, database, storage, and server hosting, including problem reports and their screenshots (Supabase); sign-in with Apple (Sign in with Apple) and Google (Google sign-in, and Google Identity Services for joining the website waitlist); AI chat processing (Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude if used); AI image preview processing (Replicate); in-app analytics and crash reporting only after you opt in (Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics); payment processing (Google Play Billing, and the Apple App Store for the iOS app); website hosting, aggregated website analytics, and performance monitoring (Vercel); waitlist database hosting (Neon); and waitlist confirmation emails (Resend). These providers process data on our behalf.
- With Other Users: The public information described above
- For Legal Reasons: When required by law or to protect rights and safety
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy
Data Retention
- Account, Profile, and Content: Kept while your account is active, or until you delete the item
- Cloud Recipe Backups and Collections: Kept while your account is active and backup is on, or until you delete them
- AI Chat Messages: Not stored by FujiMuse
- AI Usage Records: Purged 35 days after they are created
- Analytics: Up to 14 months in Firebase, only if you opt in
- Crash Reports: Up to 90 days in Crashlytics, only if you opt in
- Problem Reports: Up to 1 year, or until you delete your account
- Purchase Records: Kept while needed for entitlement, tax, accounting, refund, and fraud-prevention purposes
- Moderation Decisions: Kept after account deletion with your identity removed
- Beta Waitlist: Kept until beta and launch communications are complete, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. An unsubscribed address may be kept in suppression form so we can honor the opt-out.
- Backups: Encrypted database backups held by our hosting provider expire on their normal rotation
Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account in the app under Settings, then Delete Account. If you cannot sign in, follow the steps at fujimuse.app/account-deletion. Deletion removes your sign-in account, profile, posts and uploaded photos, comments, likes, follows, saved recipes, cloud recipe backups, collections, reports you filed, problem reports and their screenshots, your terms acceptance record, and the subscription status we store. The page lists the limited data that is kept and for how long. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription; cancel it in Google Play or the App Store.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your data. You can also share any recipe from the app as a JSON file at any time.
- Correction: Update your profile in the app, or ask us to correct other data
- Deletion: Delete your account and associated data as described above
- Portability: Ask us for a machine-readable copy of the data you gave us
- Withdraw Consent: Turn analytics and crash reporting off in the app's settings at any time
- Marketing Opt-out: Unsubscribe from beta and launch emails at fujimuse.app/unsubscribe or by contacting us
To exercise these rights, contact us at davey@cleverfoxailabs.com. We may need to verify that the request comes from you, and we respond within 30 days.
Data Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encryption at rest provided by our hosting providers
- Token-based authentication
- Row-level security rules that limit each user to their own private data
- AI provider keys kept on our servers, never in the app
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
FujiMuse is not intended for children under 13 years of age and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at davey@cleverfoxailabs.com. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Users between 13 and 18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian.
International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' standard contractual clauses.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy here and update the "Last Updated" date, and we will notify you in the app or by email of material changes.
